Prof. Dr. Thomas Hofmann

Prof. Dr. Thomas F. Hofmann has been President of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since October 2019. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation for ten years. The internationally recognized scientist, who holds a doctorate in food chemistry, held professorships at the University of Münster and at TUM, where he was appointed Full Professor of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science in 2007.

As President, he is committed to excellent research, international networking, social responsibility and the consistent promotion of young talent. Under his leadership, TUM is driving forward its development into an entrepreneurial university that builds bridges between science, business and society and actively shapes the major challenges of the future.
