biography

Prof. Dr. Michael A. Popp, Chairman of the Management Board of Bionorica SE, Neumarkt i. d. OPf., spoke on the subject of "Patterns of success for networked and sustainable phyto-research".

With its well-known brands Sinupret and Bronichpret, the family-owned company Bionorica SE is one of the leading suppliers of herbal medicines and can look back on almost 80 years of company history. Bionorica is shaping a new future field of pharmacy: Phytoneering stands for the decoding of the great active ingredient potential of plants using state-of-the-art research and innovative technologies for the production of effective and safe herbal medicines. More than 1,300 employees worldwide are working on researching the great active ingredient potential of plants in order to be able to use them specifically for Bionorica's phytopharmaceuticals. To this end, Bionorica invests more than 15% of its turnover in the research and development of herbal medicinal products and maintains international research partnerships with the Austrian Drug Screening Institute, among others. This enables Bionorica to set standards in efficacy and continuously optimize the quality and tolerability of its own preparations. To ensure this in the future, the plants used in Bionorica products are cultivated by the company's own subsidiaries.
