Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Werner Sinn, President of the ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munichspoke about current and future challenges for Germany as a result of global industrialization in his presentation "Germany in the storm winds of globalization".
Sinn has been Professor of Economics and Finance at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich since 1984. He was a professor at the University of Western Ontario in Canada for two years. He has been a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and at the Universities of Bergen, Stanford, Princeton and Jerusalem. He is the only German to have held the Yrjö Jahnsson Lectures in Helsinki and the Tinbergen Lectures in Amsterdam. Sinn has been an honorary professor at the University of Vienna since 1988. From 1997 to 2000 Sinn was Chairman of the Verein für Socialpolitik and between 2006 and 2009 President of the International Institute of Public Finance, the world association of public finance scholars. Sinn is also a Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge (USA). Sinn has been President of the ifo Institute for Economic Research since February 1999. Hans-Werner Sinn was born in Brake (Westphalia), is married and has three children.
In his contribution to the 18th Munich Management Colloquium, Prof. Sinn will discuss how German companies with an international focus can open up global growth markets in the long term and sustainably and how Germany can maintain a key role in globalized markets.
