Prof. Dr. Clemens Fuest, born 1968, is President of the ifo Institute - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich, Managing Director of CESifo GmbH, Professor of Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and Director of the Center for Economic Studies (CES) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. Among other things, he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Finance (2007-2010 Chairman), Program Director of the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation, member of the European Academy of Sciences, member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Ernst&Young AG. He is also a member of the EU's High Level Group on Own Resources and the German government's Minimum Wage Commission. His research areas are public finance, public debt and taxation. Prior to his appointment in Munich, he was a professor at the Universities of Cologne (2001-2008), Oxford (2008-2013) and Mannheim (2013-2016). He is the author of books and articles in national and international journals and has also written many commentaries and name-brand articles on current economic policy issues, including in newspapers such as Handelsblatt, FAZ, SZ, WirtschaftsWoche and the Wall Street Journal.
