Dr. mult. h. c. Dipl. Ing. Hermann Franz, former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AGspoke about the importance of sustainable corporate management in times of crisis as part of the panel discussion on "The crisis as a phase before the upswing".
Dr. Hermann Franz, born in 1928, is the former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG. After studying electrical engineering/power engineering at the Technical University in Karlsruhe, he joined Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG as a sales engineer. Between 1968 and 1975, he was entrusted with the management of the "Drive Technology" and "Mining" departments, and subsequently the "Industrial Turbines and Power Plants" and "Basic Industries" divisions. In 1978, Dr. Hermann Franz was appointed Head of Siemens Iran Sherkate Sahami. One year later, he was appointed Head of Central Administration International. In 1980, Dr. Hermann Franz finally became a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG. In 1985, he took over the management of the "Installation Technology" division and, in 1988, additionally the management of the central department "Corporate Planning and Development". From 1989 he was a member of the Central Managing Board. From 1993 to 2/1998, he held the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG.
In his contribution to the 17th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Hermann Franz will discuss the effects of the economic crisis on business decisions. He will highlight the importance of sustainable corporate management in times of crisis. He will illustrate why successful companies are characterized by a forward-looking corporate policy with the right degree of cost reduction while at the same time ensuring entrepreneurial performance.
