Dieter Junghans
Managing Partner
Pro-Idee GmbH & Co. KG, Aachen
biography
Dieter Junghans joined the family business Junghans Wollversand KG in 1985. Today, the main business no longer consists of wool, but of shipping exclusive quality products from all over the world. Under the Pro-Idee brand, a range is offered that is particularly aimed at discerning customers.
Â
Products away from mass taste - that was the basic idea with which Dieter Junghans joined his father's company in 1985. After completing a banking apprenticeship and studying economics, he initially worked in advertising agencies in France and Switzerland before joining Sharper Image Corp, an American specialist for original home, garden and leisure accessories. This is where the idea of a special mail order business was born, which his father was also enthusiastic about. Today, Dieter Junghans sees himself as a trend scout who offers unusual and sometimes curious items in his catalogs.

Pro-Idee offers selected products from all over the world. They are characterized by quality, function, originality or exclusivity. The company does not focus on price arguments, as the majority of the industry does, but instead specifically highlights special product features and benefits. This strategy is based on the realization that customers can only be satisfied in the long term through really good quality and exemplary service. An important aspect of most Pro-Idee products is that they are not widely available on the market. For example, Pro-Idee launched Mag-Lite on the German market - a compact flashlight that is now part of every outdoor kit. Whether snow machines, American popcorn makers from the 1920s or radios for snorkel divers, all without speakers or headphones - Pro-Idee's products are finding more and more buyers.
