Astrid Hamker

President of the German Economic Council
Shareholder and member of the advisory board Piepenbrock Group

biography

Astrid Hamker comes from the Osnabrück-based Piepenbrock family of companies (Facility Management). After studying business administration at the University of St. Gallen, she initially worked outside her own group of companies for several years.

She was Managing Partner of the Piepenbrock Group for 16 years with responsibility for Human Resources, Corporate Communications and Marketing.

In 2009, she was removed from the management board by her mother and brothers after she opposed their plan to abolish the advisory board set up by her father and main shareholder. A few months earlier, her father Hartwig Piepenbrock had become incapacitated due to dementia.

She founded her own management consultancy, which supports family businesses with generational changes and the development of family constitutions.

She also contributes her entrepreneurial experience to advisory and supervisory boards: she is a member of the supervisory boards of Drägerwerk AG (Lübeck), Schmitz Cargobull AG (Altenberge) and L.Possehl (Lübeck).

She is also a member of the advisory boards of Tengelmann Verwaltungs- und Beteiligungs GmbH (Munich) and the Felix Schoeller Group (Osnabrück).

Astrid Hamker has been a member of the Executive Committee of the German Economic Council since 2005 and was Federal Treasurer before her presidency.

She lives in Georgsmarienhütte near Osnabrück and in Berlin and has two grown-up children.
