Challenges in the chemical, pharmaceutical and process industries

In recent years, the pharmaceutical industry has significantly increased its innovation efforts and, in particular, their speed. The coronavirus crisis has paved the way for pharmaceutical manufacturers to bring new products to market in a shorter period of time. This can be seen everywhere in the rapid development, production and global distribution of vaccines against Covid-19. This growth momentum is now being taken up by further efforts to further expand the novel technologies in the pharmaceutical sector and make them usable for broader fields of application. In order to leverage long-term growth potential and successfully manage the transformation of the industry, the process industry is also continuing to invest heavily in research and development. Digitalization and data science are important keys to creating resilient corporate structures and sustainably strengthening innovative strength.

At the 30th Munich Management Colloquium, speakers from the chemical, pharmaceutical and process industries will talk about and discuss how their companies are working in a data-driven way to drive innovation, sustainability and resilience and thereby enable sustained growth.

The proceeds from Comirnaty provide BioNTech with sufficient financial resources to realize its transformation into a provider of individualized cancer immunotherapy, to build an international production network and to pursue completely new scientific paths. Data science plays a key role in the patient-specific development of therapies and is also increasingly being used at BioNTech.
