Prof. Dr. Paul Hünermund

Paul Hünermund is Professor of Empirical Economics and Data Science at the TUM School of Management (Department of Economics & Policy, Heilbronn Data Science Center) and affiliated with Copenhagen Business School, where he received tenure as Associate Professor in 2025.

He studied economics at the University of Mannheim, HEC Lausanne, and NYU Stern School of Business, and holds a Ph.D. in Business Economics from KU Leuven.

His research lies at the intersection of innovation economics, technology management, and data science, with a focus on causal machine learning and decision-making. His work has been published in leading journals such as Research Policy, The Econometrics Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Organizational Research Methods, as well as in MIT Sloan Management Review and Harvard Business Review.
