Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, President of the Technical University of Munich (TUM)will give the opening speech at the 21st Munich Management Colloquium.

Wolfgang A. Herrmann studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. After his dissertation and habilitation at the University of Regensburg and a research stay in the USA (1975/76), he initially worked as an associate professor in Regensburg before being appointed to the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry in Frankfurt am Main in 1982. In 1985, he succeeded Prof. E. O. Fischer in the chair of the same name at the Technical University of Munich.

Since 1995 Wolfgang A. Herrmann has been President of TUM since 1995. He was instrumental in shaping the future concept of the entrepreneurial university, with which TUM was successful in the Excellence Initiative in 2006 and 2012. Under his leadership, the university has often set the pace in the German higher education system with its reforms.

Wolfgang A. Herrmann holds twelve honorary doctorates and is one of the most cited German chemists. In addition to numerous prizes for his scientific achievements (including the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation and the Max Planck Research Prize), he has received many awards for his commitment as university president (including University Manager of the Year 2009 from the FTD and President of the Year 2012 from the DHV).
