Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Horst Wildemann

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Horst Wildemannstudied mechanical engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) and business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) in Aachen and Cologne. After several years of practical work as an engineer in the automotive industry, he obtained his doctorate in 1974, followed by periods abroad at the International Management Institute in Brussels and at American universities. In 1980, he habilitated (Dr. habil.) at the University of Cologne. Since 1980 he has taught as a full professor of business administration at the Universities of Bayreuth and Passau and since 1989 at the Technical University of Munich. He has been appointed to the Universities of Stuttgart Hohenheim and Dortmund, the Free and Technical Universities of Berlin, the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, the University of Indianapolis, Indianapolis, and the University of St. Gallen. In addition to his teaching activities, Prof. Wildemann heads a consulting institute with over 60 employees for corporate planning and logistics.

In 40 books and over 700 essays, which have been written in close contact with practitioners, he has shown new ways for the economic organization of a company with a future. Professor Wildemann acts as a consultant, supervisory board member and advisory board member for leading industrial companies.

He was awarded the State Medal of the Free State of Bavaria, the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Klagenfurt, Passau and Cottbus. He was inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame in 2004, awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2006 and received an honorary pin from the German Logistics Association in 2008.
