Sebastian Klauke

Chief Digital Officer
Otto Group

biography

Mr. Sebastian Klauke, Chief Digital Officer of the Otto Group, spoke on the topic "Digital development of an established player in the retail segment".

Hardly any other industry has felt the effects of digitalization as strongly as the retail sector. Online retailers helped shape the transition to the digital age at an early stage and created new sales channels in the consumer business. In view of the increasing international competition in the online business, German retailers cannot retreat from the ongoing digital transformation. The Otto Group has also recognized this. In the 2016/17 financial year, the Group and its 49,800 employees generated total revenue of around 12.5 billion euros, of which around 7.0 billion euros came from e-commerce. The company sees great opportunities for the future in the use of big data and artificial intelligence. At the same time, new forms of work are being created that enable employees to develop their creativity and generate new ideas. In this way, the company has already managed to implement innovative business processes and play a pioneering role in the retail segment. In his presentation at the Munich Management Colloquium, Mr. Sebastian Klauke will explain how the Otto Group has adapted to the digital transformation in the past and will continue to do so in the future and what role management plays in this.

Mr. Sebastian Klauke, has been Chief Digital Officer of the Otto Group since July 2017. After studying physics, he began his career as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
