Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Matthias H. Tschöp 

Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Matthias H. Tschöp is an internationally recognized physician and medical researcher. He studied medicine and earned his doctorate at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. After a research fellowship at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis (USA, 1999–2002), he founded his own laboratory at the German Institute of Human Nutrition in Potsdam (2002–2003). He subsequently worked at the University of Cincinnati (USA, 2003–2011), where he served as Scientific Director and held an endowed chair in medicine. He then returned to Germany and served as CEO of Helmholtz Zentrum München, Alexander von Humboldt Professor at the Technical University of Munich, and Vice President of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres. Since 1 October 2025, he has been President of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
