biography

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sebastian Bauer, Managing Director of BAUER Maschinen GmbH, spoke on the topic "Digitalization of specialist foundation engineering equipment as an enabler for more cost-effective construction".

BAUER Maschinen GmbH is the world market leader for specialist foundation engineering equipment. In addition to rotary drilling rigs for the production of piles up to 120 m deep, the product range includes cable excavators, piling rigs, milling systems, well and small drilling rigs as well as rigs for maritime use down to depths of 4,000 m and deep drilling rigs for oil, gas and geothermal energy. With almost 3,000 employees, around 50 subsidiaries and 15 production sites around the world, the company generates a consolidated output of around 700 million euros. BAUER Maschinen GmbH is part of the BAUER Group, which also includes BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH and BAUER Resources GmbH. Whether in process or machine technology, Bauer has played a key role in shaping specialist foundation engineering since the middle of the 20th century. For example, Bauer produced the foundation piles for the 828 m high Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah - which will be the tallest building in the world - is also being built on Bauer piles.
