Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Bruno O. Braun, Chairman of the Executive Board of TÜV Rheinland Berlin Brandenburg Pfalz e.V., spoke on the topic "Neutral certification of safety and quality - a prerequisite and key to the international movement of goods".
The registered association TÜV Rheinland Berlin Brandburg Pfalz is the sole shareholder of TÜV Rheinland AG. As the operational management company, it controls all the companies in the Group. Founded in 1872 by entrepreneurs as an instrument of self-help, TÜV Rheinland is today a leading international service group and is active in 69 countries on all continents. In 2015, it generated a turnover of 1.9 billion euros with its 20,000 employees. With its broad range of expertise, TÜV Rheinland supports its customers in the research and development of new technologies in all relevant areas. Its range of services also includes the technical inspection of industrial plants of all kinds. Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Bruno O. Braun, born in 1942 in Bietigheim (Württemberg), completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic before leaving school, then studied mechanical engineering, gained his doctorate and habilitated. Thus well prepared, he began his career in industry. He spent 25 years on the boards of various public limited companies, 20 of them as their chairman. In 1992, Prof. Braun became Chairman of the Executive Board of TÜV Rheinland e.V. and TÜV Rheinland AG. He developed the Group from a regional testing organization with government contracts into an international service provider in free competition. From May 2007 to December 2012, he was President of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). Since 2010, Prof. Braun has continued his formative commitment to the TÜV Rheinland Group as Chairman of the Executive Board of the association and as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TÜV Rheinland AG.
