Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anton Kathrein is the personally liable managing partner of KATHREIN-Werke KG in Rosenheim. Today, the company is the world's oldest and largest antenna manufacturer and a leading high-tech communications technology company. With over 90 years of experience, the company has become the market leader in many product areas. The group employs around 6,100 people worldwide in 14 production facilities and 58 subsidiaries and associated companies. Turnover in 2008 amounted to EUR 1,305 million, of which over 2/3 was generated abroad.
Prof. Dr. Anton Kathrein has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and the Bavarian Order of Merit for his decades of economic and cultural commitment. He is Vice President of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, Chairman of the Bavarian branch of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI) and Vice President of the Bavarian Industry Association (VBW). In addition to his position as Vice President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, he is also involved as a city councillor and third mayor in Rosenheim.
In his contribution to the 17th Munich Management Colloquium, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anton Kathrein will discuss how German companies with an international focus can overcome the current demand crisis in the long term and sustainably by actively tapping into global growth markets. He will present concepts and experiences on how KATHREIN-Werke KG identifies and profitably develops new growth areas in emerging markets. The dynamics of modern communication markets demand a high rate of innovation. This becomes all the clearer when you consider that KATHREIN-Werke KG currently generates 50% of its turnover with products that are no more than two years old.
