biography

Prof. Dr. Carola Jungwirth has held a chair at the University of Passau since 2007. She initially conducted research in international management, but since 2020 her focus has been on governance. She investigates the design of systems in higher education, with a focus on compliance, compatible incentives and the digitalization of decision-making processes. In teaching, she uses student-centered methods such as Problem Based Learning and Flipped Classroom. Jungwirth was Dean of Studies, Dean, University Women's Representative and President of the University of Passau as well as Vice President for Studies and Teacher Training at the German Rectors' Conference. She studied business administration at the LMU Munich, obtained her doctorate at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and habilitated at the University of Zurich. Activities at universities in Zurich, Liechtenstein, Budapest, Istanbul, Chennai and Michigan expanded her international profile. She is a member of quality circles, is involved in further education in science management, is a member of the supervisory board of the Caritas Association for the Diocese of Passau and oversees collaborations with Indian institutions, in particular the IIT Madras.
