Philipp Bagus is Professor of Economics at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid. He has published in international journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Independent Review, American Journal of Economics and Sociology and others on his research areas of monetary and business cycle theory.
His work has been recognized with the O.P. Alford III Prize in Libertarian Scholarship, the Ron Paul Liberty in Media Awards, the Sir John M. Templeton Fellowship and the IREF Essay Prize. In 2016, he also won the Ludwig Erhard Prize for Economic Journalism. He is the author of a book on the Icelandic financial collapse ("Deep Freeze: Iceland's Economics Collapse" with David Howden). His book "The tragedy of the euro" (*) is published in 14 languages.
Philipp Bagus is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Ludwig von Mises Institute Germany, the Liberal Institute (Switzerland) and a Senior Fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute (USA). He is also an academic of the Instituto de Estudios Históricos Bances y Valdés, a member of the Mont Pelerin Society, the Hayek Society, and the Property and Freedom Society. Together with Andreas Marquart he is the author of "WHY OTHERS ARE GETTING RICHER AT YOUR EXPENSE ... and what role the state and our paper money play in this"(*) as well as "We can do it - alone". In September 2024, his book "The Milei era".
