Prof. Oliver Zipse

Oliver Zipse (born 1964 in Heidelberg) has been Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG since August 2019. He began his career at BMW AG in 1991 and subsequently held various roles and management positions in development, production and production planning in Munich and South Africa.

From 2007 to 2008, he was Managing Director of the BMW Group plant for MINI production in Oxford/Great Britain. From 2009 to 2012, he was Head of Technical Planning before becoming Head of Group Planning and Product Strategy in 2012. In May 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Management of BMW AG with responsibility for Production.

Oliver Zipse holds a degree in engineering (TU Darmstadt) and an Executive MBA from WHU Koblenz and the Kellogg School of Management, Evanston/USA. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and was President of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, Oliver Zipse was appointed Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
