Michael Illbruck
Managing Partner
illbruck elements GmbH, Munich
biography
In his presentation, Michael Illbruck will address the topic "One wavelength ahead - high-performance sailing as a model for a corporate culture".
1987 rose Michael Illbruck at the family business illbruck GmbH in Leverkusen. The company, founded in 1952 by his father Willi and his mother Christiane, was originally a "two-man operation" producing steel strip cutters. Over the course of 50 years, the couple expanded the company into a successful medium-sized enterprise, which today operates numerous production and sales sites worldwide with around 1,100 employees. The holding company Illbruck elements GmbH in Munich- Unterföhring consists of the six companies illbruck filtration, illbruck insulation, illbruck acoustic, illbruck foamtec, Nieuwburg and Pinta. The holding company acts as the strategic head and idea generator and is significantly involved in strategy, investment and product decisions as well as the planning and implementation of customer loyalty measures, primarily sailing events.
Sailing is for Michael Illbruck not only a sporting challenge, but also an inspiration for his business activities. Illbruck is a team player: thanks to his initiative, the sailing yacht Illbruck won the Volvo Ocean Race - the most important ocean race in the world - at the first attempt in 2002. Illbruck was the first German sailing ship to win this coveted trophy. Together with his crew, Michael Illbruck thus continued the proud tradition of his father Willi Illbruck, the most successful German ocean sailor of the eighties and nineties.
In his contribution to the 14th Munich Management Colloquium, Mr. Illbruck will explain ways of optimally structuring value creation in the future and thus securing competitive advantages.
