Martin Kannegiesser

Herbert Kannegiesser GmbH in Vlotho is one of the world's leading manufacturers of machines and systems for industrial laundry technology. The company was founded in 1948 and quickly built up an international reputation with ironing presses for shirts. Today, it is divided into three divisions: wet area (washing, dewatering and drying), flatwork processing and shaped parts processing and employs around 1300 people at six production sites with a turnover of around EUR 250 million.

While still studying business administration and economics in Cologne, Martin Kannegiesser worked as a sales manager in his parents' company, which he eventually took over as managing director in 1968. After the death of his father, he became the owner in 1974 and expanded the company by broadening the product range and increasing its internationalization. Kannegiesser became one of the world's leading brands in garment technology and the market leader for fusing machines. Throughout his professional life, Mr. Martin Kannegiesser has also held numerous honorary positions in political parties and associations, for example in the CDU's SME association and, above all, in the umbrella organization Gesamtmetall (employers' association of the metal and electrical industry), of which he has been President since 2000. His many years of diverse experience as an entrepreneur and in association activities promise an interesting contribution to the panel discussion at the Munich Management Colloquium.
