biography
Mr. Markus Duesmann was born on June 23, 1969 in Heek/North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1991, he graduated from Steinfurt University of Applied Sciences with a degree in mechanical engineering.
His professional career began in 1992 as a design engineer for V12 series engines at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart. In 1995, he moved to the development service provider FEV GmbH in Aachen, where he held various positions, most recently Head of Engine Mechanics. In 2004, he took over the position of Head of Department for new diesel engines at DaimlerChrysler AG in Stuttgart and became Head of Formula 1 Development at Mercedes-Benz in Brixworth in the UK in 2005. In 2007, he joined BMW AG as Head of Formula 1 Powertrain. After holding several positions of responsibility within the company, Duesmann was appointed Member of the Board of Management for Purchasing and Supplier Network at BMW AG in October 2016. He held this position until July 2018.
The Supervisory Board of AUDI AG has appointed Markus Duesmann as Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG with effect from April 1, 2020. At the same time, he was appointed to the Group Board of Management with responsibility for Group Research and Development. On June 18, 2020, he was additionally entrusted with responsibility for the China business of AUDI AG and with the management of the Board of Management departments for Technical Development and Model Lines of AUDI AG.
