Horst Seehofer, Minister President of the Free State of Bavaria, will emphasize the socio-political importance of the topic in his presentation and point out ways to overcome the crisis situation.
After graduating in public administration, Horst Seehofer worked in the district administration offices of Ingolstadt and Eichstätt until 1980. From 1980, he was a directly elected member of the Bundestag for the Ingolstadt constituency. From 1989 to 1992, Seehofer was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and from 1992 to 1998 Federal Minister of Health. From October 1998, Seehofer took over the deputy chairmanship of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag and in this position was primarily responsible for the areas of health, labor and social affairs. After the 2005 Bundestag elections, Seehofer was appointed Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, a post he held until October 2008. From October 2008, Seehofer is Chairman of the Christian Social Union and Minister President of the Free State of Bavaria.
