Dr. Thomas Berger

Dr. Thomas R. G. Berger, Chairman of the Management Board of KTG Energie AG, Hamburg spoke on the topic of "Opportunities for SMEs - implementing industrial processes".

KTG Energie AG is part of the KTG Group, which is one of Europe's largest producers of ecologically sound food and clean energy. KTG Energie AG generates a total of 53MW. Since 2009, KTG Energie has increased its turnover six-fold to over € 70 million and EBITDA seven-fold to over € 22 million. The business model combines sales security with a price guarantee on the input and output side. The introduction of industrial processes enabled capacity utilization of 94 to 97% (industry average: 85%). The supply of raw materials and thus also the security of supply for energy customers are guaranteed by cultivation on the company's own land. In addition to security and independence, KTG Energie stands for sustainability. KTG Energie works consistently to reduce its external and internal environmental impact. The combustion of biogas to generate electricity is CO₂-neutral. More than 60% of the raw materials used are secondary crops such as grass or straw. KTG Energie's commitment not only relates to sustainable energy generation, but also to society. This benefits associations, schools and kindergartens at the 12 production sites, among others.

Dr. Thomas Bergerborn in Munich in 1974, studied law in Munich and Geneva. He completed his legal clerkship in Munich and Sydney. From 2000 to 2001, Thomas Berger worked in trading at an investment bank in London. After working for the German Bundestag (2002), the Munich Bar Association admitted him to the bar in 2003. Between 2004 and 2006, Thomas Berger worked for international law firms. In 2007, he completed his doctorate on European, antitrust and competition issues at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. In October 2008, Dr. Berger was appointed to the Management Board of KTG Agrar SE. Dr. Berger has been Chairman of the Management Board of KTG Energie AG since April 2009.
