biography

Dr. Theodor Weimer, Spokesman of the Management Board of Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG, spoke about the importance of sustainable corporate management in times of crisis as part of the panel discussion on "The crisis as a phase before the upswing".

Dr. Theodor Weimer has been Spokesman of the Management Board of Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG and member of the Management Committee of UniCredit Group as Country Chairman since January 2009. Dr. Theodor Weimer studied economics, business administration and geography at the Universities of Tübingen and St. Gallen from 1978-1984 and obtained his doctorate from the University of Bonn from 1984-1987. He then worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. From 1995-2001, Dr. Weimer was Senior Partner and member of the global management of Bain & Company Inc. Dr. Weimer was subsequently Managing Director at Goldman Sachs from 2001-2004 and Partner in the Investment Banking division from 2004-2007. In 2007 he joined the UniCredit Group as Head of Global Investment Banking. In April 2008, Dr. Theodor Weimer was appointed Spokesman of the Management Board with effect from 01.01.2009.

In his contribution to the 17th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Theodor Weimer will discuss the effects of the economic crisis on business decisions. He will highlight the importance of sustainable corporate management in times of crisis. He will illustrate why successful companies are characterized by a forward-looking corporate policy with the right degree of cost reduction while at the same time ensuring entrepreneurial performance.
