Dr. Stefan Oschmann, Chairman of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA, spoke on the topic "Science as an engine: New growth opportunities in the digitalized world".
Stefan Oschmann is Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Merck. Before assuming this position at the end of April 2016, he was responsible for Group strategy as Deputy Chairman and Deputy CEO. Stefan Oschmann joined Merck in 2011 as a member of the Executive Board and headed the Healthcare business sector until the end of 2014. He drove forward the realignment of the Biopharma business by optimizing cost structures and increasing the efficiency of the research and development model. This also included a clear prioritization of portfolio projects. In addition, he played a key role in the Group-wide transformation and growth program "Fit for 2018". Before joining Merck, Stefan Oschmann worked for the US pharmaceutical company MSD, where he held various management positions. He began his career at a United Nations agency, followed by a position at the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI).
Dr. Stefan Oschmann holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and studied at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He was born in Würzburg in 1957 and is married.
