biography
Dr. Rüdiger Grube, Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn AG Berlinspoke in his presentation on "The future of DB AG - a sustainable way out of the crisis".
Dr. Grube was born in Hamburg on 2 August 1951. After completing an industrial-technical apprenticeship in metal aircraft construction, he studied vehicle construction and aircraft technology at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, graduating with a degree in engineering. This was followed by a degree in vocational and business education at the University of Hamburg. From 1981 to 1986, he lectured at the University of Hamburg in the field of production engineering. In 1986, he completed his doctorate at the Universities of Hamburg and Kassel in the field of industrial science and polytechnology. In 1989, Dr. Grube joined the former Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm GmbH, which later became Daimler-Benz Aerospace AG (DASA).
Since October 1, 2001, Grube has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and, in this function, responsible for Group Development with the areas of Group Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, Industrial Participations, IT and, since October 1, 2004, for all North East Asian activities (including the growth region China) of Daimler AG. In addition, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS N.V.). Dr. Rüdiger Grube has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Bahn AG and DB Mobility Logistics AG since 1 May 2009.
