Dr. Rudolf Bencker

Dr. Rudolf Bencker is Senior Vice President Invention & Innovation at the BMW Group. In this role, he leads strategic initiatives for the integration of future-oriented technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), automation and data-driven innovations in the automotive industry.

Dr. Bencker is responsible for

  • Outside-in perspective - Tech Trends, Technology Trend Radar
  • Tech offices worldwide
  • BMW Start-Up Garage
  • Prototyping new vehicles
  • New business models
  • Complete research and pre-development - based on unique customer experiences

His commitment extends far beyond the boundaries of the company: he fosters intensive cooperation between BMW and leading research institutions such as RWTH Aachen University and promotes the transfer of knowledge between industry and science. His particular focus is on the fields of AI and quantum computing. As a jury member of the MMK Award of Excellence 2025, Dr. Bencker contributes his expertise to evaluate outstanding innovations.
