The company is a medium-sized cladding and cold rolling company with around 770 employees. The family-owned group based in Wickede (Ruhr) achieved a turnover of around EUR 235 million in the 2010 financial year. In its seven plants in Wickede, Hagen and Müllheim (Baden) as well as in the USA and China, the company produces cold-rolled strip, clad materials, hardened strip steel, etched microcomponents and thermobimetals. The company is the global market leader for clad materials and one of the top 5 cold-rolled strip manufacturers in Europe. Its sales sectors include the energy sector, the automotive industry, the household appliance industry and mechanical and plant engineering. Wickeder Westfalenstahl GmbH has three business divisions: clad materials, cold-rolled strip and cold-rolled strip for CRT components (color picture tube components). The company also includes two 1001TP3 subsidiaries, Wickeder Steel Inc. in the USA and MicroMetal GmbH in Müllheim Baden, Engineered Materials Solution and a strategic investment in DNick Holding Plc. DNick Holding Plc. was founded in 2005 as a holding company for the former business operations of Deutsche Nickel AG and is primarily active in the nickel and nickel alloys division. Turnover in 2010 amounted to around 200 million euros. Wickeder Westfalenstahl GmbH sees itself as a strategic, industrial investor with the aim of consistently developing the Group industrially.

After studying business administration at the Universities of Regensburg and Cologne and obtaining his doctorate in economics at the University of Passau, Dr. Jürgen E. Platt began his professional career in 1993 as a controller at Hüls AG. After holding various senior management positions, he moved to Wickeder Westfalenstahl GmbH in 2004, where he has been Chairman of the Management Board since 2007.
