Dr. Reinhard Ploss

Mr. Dr. Reinhard Ploss, Chairman of the Management Board of Infineon Technologies AG, Munich, spoke on the topic "From product to system - how Infineon keeps fit in global competition".

Infineon Technologies AG was founded through a spin-off of the semiconductor business from Siemens AG and an IPO in 2000. With its semiconductor and system solutions for automotive, industrial electronics, smart card and security applications, Infineon Technologies offers solutions for energy efficiency, mobility and security. Infineon operates worldwide and manages its activities in the USA from Milpitas, California, in the Asia-Pacific region from Singapore and in Japan from Tokyo. In the 2012 fiscal year (October 2011 to September 2012), Infineon recorded sales of 3.9 billion euros.

Dr. Reinhard Plossborn on December 8, 1955 in Bamberg, joined Siemens/Infineon in 1986 and initially worked as a process engineer for chip production in Munich. In 1992, he moved to chip production in Villach (Austria), where Reinhard Ploss was responsible for technology management from 1993. In 1996, he returned to Munich and took over the management of the Power Semiconductors division, focusing on development and production. In 1999, Reinhard Ploss became Head of the Industrial Power division and Managing Director of eupec GmbH Co. KG, a subsidiary of Infineon. In 2000, Reinhard Ploss took over the management of Infineon's Automotive & Industrial Business division. From 2005, he was responsible for the development, production and operational management of the Automotive, Industrial & Multimarket segment. In June 2007, Reinhard Ploss was appointed to the Management Board of Infineon with responsibility for Manufacturing. In the following years, he also became Labor Director and assumed responsibility for Research & Development. These three areas are still under his responsibility today. Reinhard Ploss has been Chairman of the Management Board of Infineon since October 1, 2012.
