Dr. Norbert Klapper

Dr. Norbert Klapper, Managing Director of Voith Industrial Services Holding GmbH & Co. KGspoke in his presentation "Outsourcing in production - global perspectives and consequences for Germany as a business location" about global perspectives and the necessity of global market development as well as the consequences for Germany as a business location.

Voith Industrial Services, a Group Division of the Voith Group, bundles the industrial services portfolio into the four divisions "Automotive", "Energy-Petro-Chemicals", "Industries" and "Engineering Services". The "Automotive" and "Energy-Petro-Chemicals" divisions offer customized solutions for the automotive and process industries. With its subsidiary DIW, the "Industries" division provides comprehensive regional services for the operation and management of industrial sites in Germany, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. The "Engineering Services" division offers contract engineering for the aviation industry and rail vehicle manufacturers.

Since July 2005, Dr. Norbert Klapper has been Managing Director of Voith Industrial Services Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart. He is also Head of the Automotive Division. After graduating with a degree in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Dr. Klapper worked as a research assistant at the University of Passau/TU Munich under Prof. Dr. Horst Wildemann. In 1993, he was awarded the academic degree of Dr. oec. by the TU Munich. From 1993 to 2000, he worked as a management consultant at Arthur D. Little International, Inc., most recently as a managing partner specializing in production/logistics consulting. Most recently, Dr. Klapper was a member of the Board of Management at Dürr AG, Stuttgart, where he was responsible for the management of the Services and Final Assembly Systems divisions.
