Prof. Dr. Michael Süß

Prof. Dr. Michael Süss was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oerlikon at the 2015 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. As of July 1, 2022, in addition to his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Süss assumed the position of Executive Chairman as well as Chairman of the Executive Committee and thus responsibility for all corporate management issues at Group level. From 2015 to 2016, he was CEO of the German Georgsmarienhütte Holding, a company with a long tradition in the steel industry. Prior to that, he was a member of the Executive Board of Siemens AG and CEO of the Siemens Energy Sector. From 2008 to 2011, he was CEO of the Fossil Power Generation Division of the Energy Sector, and from October 2006 to December 2007 he was a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG Power Generation Group. After holding various positions at BMW, IDRA Presse S.p.A and Porsche AG, Prof. Dr. Süss was appointed to the Executive Board of Mössner AG in 1999. Following its takeover by the Georg Fischer Group, he was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of GF Mössner GmbH. From 2001 to 2006, Prof. Dr. Süss was COO at MTU Aero Engines AG, where he played a key role in the IPO. From May 2009 to July 2018, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Herrenknecht AG. He completed his mechanical engineering studies at the Technical University of Munich, and in 1994 he received his doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the Institute of Ergonomics and Process Management at the University of Kassel. On October 29, 2015, Prof. Dr. Süss was awarded the title of Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Munich.
