Dr. Martin Herrenknecht

Dr.-Ing. E. h. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman of the Executive Board of Herrenknecht AG in Schwanau-Allmannsweierspoke in his presentation "Leadership in a global market" about ways and strategies for the internationalization of business activities and the associated growth opportunities for a German industrial company.

Martin Herrenknecht founded Herrenknecht GmbH in 1977, which was transformed into Herrenknecht AG in 1998. Mr. Herrenknecht is Chairman of the Board of the company, which is the world market leader in the field of tunnelling technology and is one of the few companies in the world that can develop and produce the entire range of tunnelling machines. Mr. Herrenknecht was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1993, in 1998 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Surveying at the Technical University of Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig, followed by the award of the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg in 2002. He has also received numerous honorary awards, e.g. honorary citizenship of the municipality of Schwanau in 2002.

In his contribution to the 15th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht will discuss how German companies with an international clientele can achieve long-term, sustainable and healthy growth in a global market through appropriate leadership. He will present some concepts and experiences of how Herrenknecht AG has been able to profitably manage the sometimes immense growth of recent years and has not failed due to its own growth like other companies because the environment, suppliers, processes or structures could not grow at the same pace as the core business. The development of management structures through leadership and the international orientation are success factors of the still lean and very healthy company Herrenknecht.
