Dr. Karl-Josef Neukirchen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sixt AGspoke in the panel discussion on "Corporate governance as a success factor" about the responsibility of companies towards their employees and society, as well as about lean corporate structures and profitable growth.

Sixt AG is one of the largest German car rental and leasing companies based in Pullach near Munich. The company was founded by Martin Sixt in 1912 with seven cars. In 2006, the company grew to 646 rental vehicles, employs around 2,015 people and generated a surplus of EUR 73.8 million.

Sixt AG is the market leader in the car rental sector in Germany and Austria and the company continues to be successful internationally. Sixt AG offers attractive vehicle leasing combined with high-quality services for both corporate and private customers. The success of Sixt AG is not least due to the company-wide holistic mobility concept, the service and customer-oriented offer and the high service and product quality.

Dr. Karl-Josef ("Kajo") Neukirchen (65) is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sixt AG and, among other things, former Chairman of the Management Board of mg technologies AG. He studied economics and physics and, after completing his doctorate in business administration, began his career at the Philips Group in marketing and sales management. In 1977, he became CEO of Felten & Guilleaume Kabelwerke, a subsidiary of Philips. In the course of his career, he was CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of various German companies, including Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG, Hoesch AG and FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schäfer AG. From 1993 to 2002, Dr. Neukirchen was CEO of Metallgesellschaft (now mg technologies AG). At the request of Deutsche Bank, he restructured the company from the ground up. The successful restructuring and realignment of the former Metallgesellschaft cemented his reputation as an important reorganizer. In addition to several advisory board mandates, his activities as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sixt AG and as a member of the Supervisory Board of Stadtwerke Düsseldorf AG, Dr. Neukirchen has holdings in various medium-sized companies with a total turnover of around EUR 550 million.

In his contribution to the 15th Munich Management Colloquium, Dr. Kajo Neukirchen will discuss how lean structures have a positive impact on sustainable corporate success based on his experience in the field of corporate restructuring.
