Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Schumacher

General Partner
Francisco Partners AG

biography

Francisco Partners is one of the largest technology-oriented investment firms with a subscribed fund capital of USD 2.5 billion. The success factor is the targeted investment in technology companies that are at a strategic, technological or operational turning point. The aim is to acquire majority or minority stakes in both private companies and public institutions. Francisco Partners has backed some of the largest and most successful technology buyouts such as Globespan and Paradyne. By investing in developing or already developed business models, Francisco aims to achieve long-term value creation. What contributions technological innovations can make to Germany as a business location and what barriers need to be overcome for the "national goal of innovation" will be the subject of Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Schumacher's presentation at the 13th Munich Management Colloquium on March 7 and 8, 2006.

Ulrich Schumacher, born on April 2, 1958, studied and obtained his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University in 1985. He began his career at Siemens AG in 1986 and took over the Semiconductor Division in 1996 at the age of 38. Two years later, he was also promoted to the Group Management Board and was considered a candidate to succeed CEO Heinrich von Pierer. In March 2000, he successfully accompanied the IPO of Infineon Technologies AG. After leaving Siemens, Schumacher became a partner in the technology investment company Fancisco Partners. Schumacher is also a member of the board of directors of the Swiss software company Esmertec and a board member of the Israeli digital TV start-up Siano Mobiles.
