Barbara Kux, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AGwill take part in the panel discussion on growth opportunities through the efficient use of resources at the end of the first day of the 19th MMK together with Prof. Sigmund Gottlieb and other renowned executives.

Siemens AG (Berlin and Munich) is a global leader in electronics and electrical engineering. The Group is active in the fields of industry and energy as well as in the healthcare sector. For over 160 years, Siemens has stood for technical performance, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality. Siemens is also the world's largest supplier of environmentally friendly technologies. Green products and solutions account for more than a third of Group sales. On a continuing basis (excluding Osram and Siemens IT Solutions and Services), Siemens generated total revenue of €69 billion and profit after tax of €4.3 billion in the past fiscal year. At the end of September 2010, the company had around 336,000 employees worldwide on this continuing basis.

Barbara Kux is responsible for supply chain management, with external expenditure of 37 billion euros, as well as the area of sustainability. In her role as Chief Sustainability Officer, she is also responsible for marketing the environmental portfolio, which has seen sales increase from 19 billion euros (2008) to 30 billion euros (2011). Barbara Kux has launched a comprehensive program to consolidate sustainability within the Group, which has resulted in Siemens being named industry leader by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In addition, Siemens is listed among the top three companies in the Carbon Disclosure Project, which is backed by an organization of 534 investors with assets of USD 71 trillion (2011).

Barbara Kux began her professional career in 1984 at the German branch of the US consulting firm McKinsey & Company, Inc. and successfully completed important assignments for international clients. From 1989, she held management positions at leading international companies and was a member of the Group Management Committee of Royal Philips Electronics. She then became the first woman in the company's 160-year history to be appointed to the Managing Board of Siemens AG.

After studying in Switzerland and the USA, she obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with distinction from the renowned INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. The Wall Street Journal and the business magazine Fortune list Barbara Kux as one of the Leading International Business Women. The World Economic Forum in Davos included her among the Global Leaders of Tomorrow in 1995.

Barbara Kux is a member of the Supervisory Board of Total S.A., France.
