biography

In his presentation "International value creation using the example of the commercial vehicle industry", Anton Weinmann will show ways to successfully create value for one of the leading suppliers of commercial vehicles.

 

Mr. Dipl.-ßkonom Anton Weinmannjoined M.A.N. Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg in 1982 after studying business administration in Augsburg. He joined MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in 1986 and held various management positions in Controlling. In 1997, he finally moved to MAN Roland as a member of the Executive Board before taking over the Controlling division at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in 2001. Anton Weinmann has been Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG since January 1, 2005.

The MAN Nutzfahrzeug Group, headquartered in Munich, is the largest company in the MAN Group and one of the leading international providers of commercial vehicles and transportation solutions. In the 2005 financial year, the company achieved a turnover of 7.4 billion euros with almost 33,400 employees and more than 68,200 trucks sold as well as over 6,000 buses and bus chassis sold. The operating result rose by 147 million euros compared to the previous year to a record 469 million euros. The market share for trucks over 6 tons in Europe is 15.6 percent. In the European bus market, the market share for the 2005 financial year is 12.9 percent. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge manufactures trucks in the 6 to 50 tons gross vehicle weight range, heavy special vehicles up to 300 tons gross train weight, buses and coaches as well as diesel and natural gas engines. The company has six production sites in Germany: Munich, Nuremberg, Salzgitter, Gustavsburg, Pilsting and Plauen. There are also MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Österreich AG with its production facilities in Vienna and Steyr/Upper Austria, plants in Poznan and Starachowice/Poland, in Ankara/Turkey as well as in Olifantsfontein and Pinetown/South Africa. There are also plans for a truck joint venture in India with Force Motors Ltd. where heavy trucks will be produced for the Indian and other Asian regions from the second half of 2006. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is pursuing an international growth strategy which, in addition to the core market of Europe, includes the targeted development of the growth markets of Asia and Eastern Europe with the CIS.
