Mr. Andreas Rettig, Managing Director of the German Football League from 01.01.2013will speak in the panel discussion on the topic of "Sports management past and present".
The Football Association e. V. (usually referred to as the League Association for short) is the association of German professional soccer clubs and represents their interests, in particular vis-à-vis the German Football Association. The League Association has transferred its entire operating business to its wholly-owned subsidiary DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH (DFL); however, its Executive Board also forms the Supervisory Board of the DFL. Since 1 July 2001, the League Association and the DFL have organized the Bundesliga and the men's Bundesliga 2 together with the DFB.
Andreas Rettig was an active player for numerous clubs, including FV Bad Honnef, SC Viktoria Köln, SC Brück and Wuppertaler SV. From 1984 to 1987, Rettig completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Bayer AG. From 1989 to 1998, Rettig held various positions at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, most recently as a member of the Board of Management. He then held the position of manager of SC Freiburg from 1998 to 2002, before becoming manager of 1. FC Köln in 2002. In 2006, he officially took over as manager of FC Augsburg, a position he held until the end of the 2011/12 season.
