DaimlerChrysler AG, Stuttgart

biography

In his presentation "Increasing value in the truck industry", Andreas Renschler spoke about ways to create an efficient global value creation strategy.

The Truck Group & Buses division of DaimlerChrysler AG comprises the truck and bus activities. More than 83,000 employees contribute to the success of the Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Fuso, Sterling, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, Setra and Orion brands. The positive business development of the previous year was continued in 2006: DaimlerChrysler sold more trucks last year than ever before. With 537,000 units, the Truck Group, the global market leader, increased its sales of trucks by 1.4 % compared to 2005. This new sales record is due to the extensive model range with the Truck Group's five truck brands, the success of innovative products such as the Blue Tec diesel technology, as well as purchases brought forward due to new emissions regulations in the USA and Japan. The company's turnover in 2005 amounted to over EUR 30 billion.

In 2006, DaimlerChrysler Buses sold around 36,000 units of the Mercedes-Benz, Setra and Orion brands worldwide in both the chassis business and the complete bus segment, continuing the exceptionally high level of the previous year. Overall, DaimlerChrysler Buses once again confirmed its position as world market leader with its 2006 sales results.
