Prof. Dr. Hana Milanov

Prof. Hana Milanov is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where she is also a member of the Board of Center for Digital Technology and Management (www.CDTM.de) and an academic director of the TUM Executive MBA in Innovation and Business Creation. She has served on the TUM Board of Management as a Senior Vice President for Internationalization and Alumni from 2014 till 2017, and as member of the EU Horizon 2020 Advisory Committee for Future Emerging Technologies (2015-16). In 2023, she was recognised by the German Ministry of Science and Education as an Unipreneur – among Germany’s 20 top professors supporting entrepreneurship (www.unipreneurs.de). Since 2023, she is also an advisory board member of Spacewalk VC – a deep-tech venture capital firm in Munich.
Her research interests lie in understanding how entrepreneurs effectively acquire resources and how this influences opportunity exploitation and final performance at home and abroad, with an increasing focus on gender dynamics. She studied a range of context from venture capital, public family firms, high-technology companies, crowdfunding, and microentrepreneurs across different countries. Her work was published in top journals in Management and Entrepreneurship (e.g. Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Business Ethics).Prof. Milanov is also passionate about teaching and working with entrepreneurial individuals and teams. She encourages interactive and experience-based learning with the final goal of developing students’ critical and creative thinking skills, contributing to a development of an entrepreneurial mindset and confidence. She is experienced teaching undergraduate, MBA, Masters, Executive MBA and PhD programs across different countries (Australia, Croatia, Germany, Spain, and USA), and works with corporate clients (e.g. Siemens) or entrepreneurs (e.g. Deutsche Börse). She received multiple awards for her research and teaching. Prior to joining TUM’s Faculty, she was an entrepreneurship professor at IE Business School, where she continues to teach as a Visiting Faculty.
