Wolfgang Dehen, CEO Energy Sector and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AGspoke about the strategies and success factors in the realignment of complex organizations in his presentation "Faster more transparent less complex: The reorganization of Siemens AG and its successes".
Siemens AG is a global leader in electronics and electrical engineering. The Group is active in the fields of industry and energy as well as in the healthcare sector and employs around 400,000 people worldwide. Siemens is present in almost 190 countries, making it one of the most globally oriented companies in the world. The eventful fiscal year 2007 ended with a sales increase of 9% to over EUR 72 billion and the best operating results in Siemens' history. Profit after tax increased by 21% compared to fiscal 2006. The business portfolio was focused on the strategic global markets of industrial infrastructure, energy and healthcare.
Wolfgang Dehen (54) has been a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and Chief Executive Officer of the Siemens Energy Sector since January 2008. Before taking over the management of the Sector, Wolfgang Dehen was Chairman of the Divisional Managing Board at Siemens VDO. The business graduate began his career in the automotive supply industry, with professional positions at Valeo, ITT Automotive and Alfred Teves GmbH, among others.
The Energy Sector headed by Dehen comprises the business activities of the former Power Generation and Power Transmission and Distribution Groups. The new Siemens Sector employed around 71,000 people at the beginning of fiscal 2008. In 2007, sales amounted to around EUR 20 billion. The Sector has leading market positions in all of its six divisions. The offering ranges from solutions for the oil and gas industry to products and solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. As a result, the Energy Sector is the only manufacturer in the world with complete expertise along the entire energy conversion chain, particularly in the area of interfaces, for example between power plants and grid connections.
In his contribution to the 16th Munich Management Colloquium, Mr. Dehen will explain the challenges involved in designing an efficient, transparent and flexible structure for an internationally active company and outline the key factors that make a successful reorganization possible.
