Mr. Werner Wenning began his Bayer career in 1966 with an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. After many years of management and executive positions in the Plastics Division and as Managing Director of Bayer Hispania Industrial S. A., he became Head of Group Planning and Controlling in 1996. In 1997 he was appointed to the Board of Management of Bayer AG. Werner Wenning has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG since April 26, 2002. In addition to his function as Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, Mr. Werner Wenning is a member of the Supervisory Boards of Gerling-Konzern Versicherungs-Beteiligungs-AG and Henkel KGaA, Vice President of the German Chemical Industry Association and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG.
