Walter Koch, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sanitec Corporationspoke in his presentation "From Local to Global" a market leader gains momentum (a travelogue)" about ways and strategies for locally based companies to gain a foothold in global competition.

Walter Koch has been COO of Sanitec Corporation since 2007. Sanitec Corporation is one of the leading European suppliers for the private sanitary sector. Its activities include the design, manufacture and distribution of bathroom ceramics and bath and shower products. The company has 27 production facilities in Europe and distributes its products worldwide. In recent years, Sanitec has grown both organically and through acquisitions and reported a turnover of 921 million euros in 2007.

Mr. Koch initially studied precision engineering at Aalen University of Applied Sciences before taking up various positions within the AEG Group from 1988. From 1999 to 2000, he headed the Logistics and Supply Chain departments for AEG Home Appliances/Electrolux in Central Europe and Central Eastern Europe. From 2001, he held leading positions in Supply Chain & Logistics, Service & Spares Europe and Industrial Operations at Electrolux Home Products Europe. Since 2007, he has been in charge of operations at Sanitec Corporation.

In his contribution to the 16th Munich Management Colloquium, Walter Koch will discuss measures and approaches for a global orientation of business activities from the perspective of regionally based companies.
