Mr. Thorsten Miethe, Director, Plant Manager of AGCO GmbH, spoke on the topic "Digitalization of products and production".
Based in Landshut, holds Mr. Thorsten Miethe holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig. Building on this, he gained over 20 years of experience in production and as a manager at companies including CLAAS, Gildemeister and FAG before taking over responsibility for the Finnish tractor and transmission plant of the AGCO brand VALTRA from 2013 to 2015. In his previous positions, he was involved in a large number of national and international projects and in various management functions. Thorsten Miethe has been Plant Manager of the AGCO cab plant in Asbach-Bäumenheim since 2015.
The site's current production strategy is characterized by a high level of vertical integration with a mix of traditional manufacturing and assembly processes and state-of-the-art production technologies. Together, Thorsten Miethe and his team drive digitalization issues in their organization with passion and creativity.
The site's core products are fully equipped cabs and hoods for all FENDT brand tractors. In recent years, the plant has been transformed into the Group's cab competence center. Today, the site is one of the Group's largest plants and an important cross-brand partner in the AGCO Corporation's international network of plants. With an annual turnover of USD $9.4 billion (2018), the US group is one of the world's largest manufacturers of tractors and agricultural machinery.
