Thorsten Kramer

Chairman of the Management Board
LEAG

biography

Thorsten Kramer has been CEO of LEAG since the beginning of 2022 and, in this role, is responsible for the comprehensive transformation of the Group from a central, conventional energy supplier in Germany to a broad-based energy transition company. The core element of this transformation is the GigawattFactory. The modular, integrated concept combines the large-scale expansion of wind and photovoltaics on post-mining sites with modern power plant and storage technologies in order to achieve a sustainable energy supply regardless of the time of day and weather. Thorsten Kramer first presented the GigawattFactory at the East German Energy Forum in September 2022. Since then, he and his team have been driving forward the realization of the pioneering project pipeline with a capacity of around 12 gigawatts by 2030.

Previously, Kramer advised global companies in industrial and energy plant construction, both listed and in the private equity environment - including Bilfinger Engineering & Technologies and Bard Offshore GmbH. Before becoming self-employed, he was Chairman of the Management Board, CEO and member of the Supervisory Board of GES S.A., Spain, until 2017.

Kramer has many years of international management experience in the fields of renewable energies, service and plant construction. He has also worked for the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex and the elevator group SCHINDLER. Kramer studied mechanical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum and holds a degree in engineering.
