Zeppelin GmbH operates worldwide with the divisions Trade and Industry and generates an annual turnover of over EUR 1.5 billion with 4,220 employees. Its activities focus on the sale and servicing of construction machinery, engines and industrial trucks in Germany, Austria, numerous countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Zeppelin is also the exclusive partner of Caterpillar Inc., Peoria (IL), the world's leading manufacturer of construction machinery and engines. Zeppelin GmbH was able to expand its leading position despite a difficult economic environment, particularly in Germany. Zeppelin GmbH made a name for itself with the manufacture of silos and large-capacity tanks as well as the production of equipment made of high-quality stainless steel alloys, primarily for the petrochemical industry.

From 1962 to 1967, Mr. Ernst Susanek completed a business management apprenticeship and training as a systems engineer. He then worked for IBM until 1980. In 1981, Mr. Susanek joined Zeppelin GmbH in the Organization, IT Service and Human Resources departments. On November 1, 1986, Mr. Susanek was appointed Managing Director of Zeppelin GmbH, and in 1991 he became Chairman of the Management Board. Since 1999, he has also been Chairman of the Management Board of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH. In addition to his functions as Managing Director, Mr. Susanek is Managing Director of the sponsoring company of Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen.
