Dr. Hubert Waltl, Member of the Board of Management, Production, AUDI AG, spoke on the topic of "Modern leadership in Audi production".
AUDI AG, based in Ingolstadt, is one of the world's leading German automobile manufacturers in the premium segment and is part of the Volkswagen Group. With more than 71,000 employees, AUDI AG produced more than 1.5 million vehicles in 2013, generating revenue of more than EUR 48 billion.
Dr. Hubert Waltl completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker. His first job was as a cutter in toolmaking at AUDI AG from 1976. Following additional training as a state-certified mechanical engineering technician, he held various management positions within Audi toolmaking and in production planning at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm sites from 1994. While working, Waltl completed a degree in production engineering at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences.
In 2002, he took over responsibility for the entire Audi toolmaking division. From 2007, Waltl was also responsible for Group toolmaking, body planning and toolmaking for the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. On October 1, 2009, he was appointed Board Member for Production and Logistics of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. On January 8, 2013, he received his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. Hubert Waltl has been Board Member for Production at AUDI AG since April 1, 2014.
