n his presentation "Airport as an enabler for growth", Peter Trautmann highlights the importance of airports as an engine for growth and value creation.
Flughafen München GmbH operates Munich International Airport, which is Germany's second international air traffic hub after Frankfurt Airport and one of the top ten European airports in terms of passenger numbers. With a seven percent increase in passenger numbers and a fifteen percent rise in cargo volume in 2005, Munich Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe. The ongoing planning of a third runway is currently laying the foundations for Munich Airport to continue its successful growth.
Mr. Peter Trautmann started his career at Flughafen München GmbH in 1974 as a traffic manager and was involved in the expansion of Munich Airport into one of Europe's leading airports for over three decades. During his time at Munich Airport, he held various positions of responsibility before being appointed Managing Director for Traffic Operations and Technology.
In addition to his role as Managing Director of Flughafen München GmbH, he is also a consultant for the new airports in Madrid and Bangkok. He is also a regular guest lecturer at Loughborough University in England and the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.
