Mr. Prof. Stephan Götzl, Chairman of the Board and President of the Bavarian Cooperative Associationspoke on the topic of "The online strategy of the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken - expanding the diversity of sales channels and optimizing customer benefits".
As a modern service provider, the Bavarian Cooperative Association supports around 1,100 cooperatives in Bavaria. Auditing, consulting, education and public relations are services that are offered to members. Under the guiding principle of helping people to help themselves, the Bavarian Cooperative Association focuses on the challenges of the market. The Genossenschaftsverband Bayern helps its members to strengthen their competitiveness. The Board of Directors consists of two people. Other bodies of the association are the Association Council, the Assembly of Representatives and the Association Day. The Association Council is made up of 35 members from all cooperative sectors and all Bavarian regions. It monitors the management and is responsible for auditing the association's annual financial statements. With 230 representatives, the Representatives' Meeting is the "parliament of the primary level".
Prof. Götzl was State Secretary for the Environment and Health in Rhineland-Palatinate in the early 1990s, after which he was employed as Managing Director of Pfleiderer AG, among other things. In 1999, he was appointed Managing Director of the Bavarian Industry Association and the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry Association. In 2002, he became a presidential member of the Bavarian Industry Association. Since January 1, 2005, Mr. Götzl has been Chairman of the Board and President of the Bavarian Cooperative Association. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Passau in 2008 and was appointed honorary professor at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen Nuremberg in 2011.
