The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG appointed Gunnar Kilian as a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG for the "Human Resources" division with effect from April 13, 2018, and since July 16, 2020 he has also been responsible for the "Truck & Bus" division on the Group Board of Management.
Kilian was born on January 31, 1975 in Westerland/Sylt and has been working for the Volkswagen Group since 2000. He began his professional career in 1995 with a traineeship at a newspaper, followed by work as an editor and, from 2000, as a public relations officer at Volkswagen AG.
Kilian then headed a parliamentary office at the German Bundestag from 2003 and returned to Volkswagen AG in 2006, where he took on the role of press spokesman for the Group Works Council. From 2012, he worked in the Salzburg office of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, before returning to Wolfsburg in 2013 to work as General Secretary and Managing Director of the Group Works Council.
Kilian also held various supervisory board positions at Wolfsburg AG, Porsche Holding Stuttgart GmbH, Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH, MAN Diesel & Turbo SE, Allianz für die Region GmbH, Volkswagen Vertriebsbetreuungsgesellschaft and MOIA GmbH.
Kilian has been involved in voluntary work for many years, including as Chairman of the Board of the Volkswagen Employee Foundation and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Auschwitz International Youth Meeting Center.
